RANKING OF FOOD ALLEYS YOU WANT TO VISIT IN JAPAN
Jalan has announced a ranking of the top alleys people want to visit while traveling, based on a survey of up to three preferred destinations for eating and drinking.
First place went to “Okage Yokocho” in Ise City, Mie Prefecture, known for its variety of local gourmet stores and souvenirs. Second was “Hakodate Hikari no Yatai Daimon Yokocho” in Hakodate City, Hokkaido, and third was “Yasuragi Yu no Tsubo Yokocho” in Yufuin Onsen, Oita Prefecture.
The top 10 alleys offer local cuisine and a nostalgic atmosphere. The rankings are:
- Okage Yokocho (Ise City, Mie Prefecture)
- Hakodate Hikari Yatai Daimon Yokocho (Hakodate, Hokkaido)
- Relaxing Hot Springs Alley (Yufuin Onsen, Oita Prefecture)
- Tenmonkan Kagoshima Yokocho (Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture)
- Naniwa Gourmet Alley (Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture)
- Omoide Yokocho, Shinjuku West Exit (Shinjuku, Tokyo)
- Hachinohe Yatai Village Miroku Yokocho (Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture)
- Dekonara Yokocho (Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture)
- Aoba Yokocho (Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture)
- Hozenji Yokocho (Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture)
