LRT 1 WILL BE SUSPENDED FOR FIVE DAYS FROM THE 27TH OF HOLY WEEK, AND LRT 2 AND MRT 3 WILL EACH BE SUSPENDED FOR FOUR DAYS FROM THE 28TH.
The Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1, which connects Parañaque City, Manila City, and Quezon City in the north-south direction, will suspend its operations for five days from March 27 in observance of Holy Week, an important Catholic event.
According to an announcement by the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) on March 18, the suspension will last from Holy Wednesday, March 27, to Easter Sunday, March 31, with services resuming on April 1.
The suspension allows for annual maintenance work and testing of the new Alstom rail signaling system, which is being used for the extension project towards Cavite, extending south from the current southern terminal at Baclaran Station.Additionally, the LRT Line 2 and the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3 have announced their Holy Week schedule, which includes a four-day suspension from March 28 to March 31.
Both lines will undergo regular maintenance during this period. The LRT Line 2 will also shorten its operations on March 27, running from 5:00 am to 7:00 pm, while the MRT Line 3 plans to operate nearly normal hours on the same day.Furthermore, the Metro Manila Police have announced that, in anticipation of the long holiday weekend, around 11,300 officers will be deployed for heightened security at key train stations, bus terminals, ferry ports, and commercial centers from March 25.
