United Airlines, a major U.S. airline, announced it will start operating direct flights from Narita to Cebu beginning July 31. This marks the first time an American airline will offer regular flights to Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

The new service will enable passengers to travel from Cebu to various cities in the U.S. without changing airlines, by connecting through Narita on United Airlines’ routes. In October of the previous year, United Airlines was the first American airline to launch direct flights from San Francisco to Manila, focusing on capturing travelers from the Philippines and Southeast Asian countries.

The airline also plans to significantly expand its international route network, including increasing flights from Los Angeles to Shanghai, and introducing new flights from New York to Marrakesh, Morocco, and from Houston to Medellin, Colombia, starting in October.
