CHINESE MAN ARRESTED ON SUSPICION OF DOING “WHITE TAXI” SERVICE, SALES AMOUNTED TO 1 MILLION YEN
On the 14th, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s Shinjuku Police Station charged an unemployed Chinese man, 30, from Namiki, Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture, with a violation of the Road Transport Act for operating a taxi for Chinese tourists without a license. It was announced that he had been arrested on suspicion of (prohibition of paid transportation). The arrest took place on the 13th.
According to the announcement, on June 29th, the man signed a contract with two Chinese tourists to receive 1,700 yuan (approximately 34,000 yen) without obtaining permission from the government and then took them to Tokyo. It is suspected that the suspect was transported from a hotel in Minato Ward to Ginza, Chuo Ward, etc. in a van. He admits to the charges.
Shinjuku Police Station believes that the man has illegally sold approximately 1 million yen since December last year by repeatedly using white taxis.
