PLACES TO VISIT TO SEE ILLUMINATION IN TOKYO
1.YOMIURI LAND JEWELLUMINATION
Only two weeks left and it is the final month of the year. As we approach the year end, do not forget to visit some illumination all over Tokyo.
Yomiuri Land’s annual winter light display promises to captivate even the most devoted illumination enthusiasts. As the name implies, the focal point is jewels: millions of vibrant LEDs are strategically placed throughout the expansive theme park, resembling glistening gems. The park is divided into ten areas, each featuring beautifully illuminated attractions.
Aside from the rainbow-lit 180-meter Lover’s Promenade and the Passage of Love tunnel, visitors can enjoy illuminations of the word ‘love’ in various languages.
The highlight is the fountain show, where colored illuminated water is sprayed into the air, creating mesmerizing shapes. These shows, featuring flames and lasers synchronized to music, occur every 15 minutes from 5 pm daily.
2. Tokyo Mega Illumination
First thing you will see upon entering is the ‘Twinkle’ area where you will be welcomed with a corridor adorned in gently twinkling blue lights, guiding you to the main attractions. Alongside vibrant ground projections, discover the ‘Aurora Forest,’ featuring luminous trees presenting a six-minute show synchronized to music through captivating interplays of light and shadows.
In the heart of the racecourse lies the ‘Wa no Kirameki’ area, showcasing a vibrant water fountain whose performances are choreographed to music, enchanting aurora lights, an illuminated cherry blossom tunnel, and more. A grand trellis adorned with artificial wisteria, illuminated in pink and gold, and an illumination depicting a typical Japanese rural scene, complete with paddy fields and a stream, add to the spectacle.
Moreover, being hosted at a racecourse, this event offers the unique opportunity to interact with and photograph real horses.
3. Hibiya Magic time Illumination
The “HIBIYA Magic Time Illumination” is an event centered around the idea of “magical moments,” transforming the entire city of Hibiya into a winter wonderland that drew around 4.2 million visitors last year. The theme for this year is “BEST WISHES,” reflecting the desire for a brighter future amid the uncertainties of the daily lives.
Embracing vibrant anniversary hues like purple, yellow, and light blue, each tree undergoes LED color transformations, crafting a celebratory ambiance with lively illuminations. Delight in the dazzling lights that now epitomize the lively spirit of Hibiya’s entertainment district more than ever before.
